Freight Operation Manager-Cebu Branch

As a Freight Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the direction and management of the day-to-day Freight operations, including the support of customer relationships, overseeing revenue, profit and cost controls and ensuring safety, service and quality measures. This position requires strong business and leadership skills in order to maximize the efficiency of service centers. The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, providing leadership and motivation to all members of the department in a manner that will achieve continuous improvement, supervising associates and ensuring timely, damage-free loading/unloading of freight, working in a fast paced environment, and administrative functions of the position.

  1. Preparing financial and management reports
  2. Achieve profit growth by ensuring team members meet their individual targets. Develop overall local operational strategy and direction for the freight forwarding teams.
  3. Come up strategy and planning – including the development of operational strategies based on financial budgets.
  4. Negotiating contracts, transportation and handling costs;
  5. Arranging insurance and assisting the client in the event of a claim; Arranging air transport for urgent and high-value freight and managing the risk door to door;
  6. Acting as broker in customs negotiations worldwide to guide the freight efficiently through complex procedures;
  7. Working closely with customers, colleagues and third parties to ensure smooth operations to deadlines;
  8. Maintaining communication and control through all phases of the journey, including the production of management reports and statistical and unit cost analysis;
  9. Oversee the development of new freight business, maintain and develop relationships with new and existing clients in the local market, and drive the business for maximum utilization of existing facilities.
  10. Ensure that financial management (billing and invoicing) and reporting for freight is carriedout in accordance with company requirements.
  11. Review performance of each department under his ward vs. set KPI.
  12. Maintain departmental reports of key operational information, updates licenses and permits necessary for continued operations of sections under him/her.
  13. Formulation and/or review of departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  14. Develop/maintain freight business for domestic and international clients.
  15. Meet with middle/senior logistics executives in client organizations to scope out and understand needs for warehouse projects and other service sales opportunities.
  16. Lead and motivate teams to achieve departmental goals and carry out staff performance reviews.
  17. Provide training and coaching to team members by ensuring employees are working in their assigned areas to provide adequate coverage for all processes which may include task delegation and follow up.
  18. Review claims resulting from missing or damaged cargo.
  19. Maintain professional and proactive communication with all department, internal and external customers.
  20. Provide advice on maintaining and improving cost effective ways to handle airfreight, and make the job more efficiently.
  21. Assess and coordinate internal and external resources to provide feasible and sustainable services to clients and negotiated contracts with airlines & shipping partners.
  22. Attend trade shows and seminar, networking meeting to promote the company brand and services.
  23. Coordinated with sales team and dedicated more time to ensure the client satisfaction.
  24. Oversee the Freight department to ensure that all aspects of Export Cargo from booking, pick-up, logging, file creation, customer service and invoicing are performed as per company standards.
  25. Ensure maintain high levels of Customs Service, maintain integrity in the operation and effect a smooth running department.
  26. Strategy and planning—including the development if operational strategies based on financial budgets.
  27. Assist the General Manager for any operational needs of the company.
